I was just discussing with my wife earlier how things might have been if we’d got together properly when we first… well… kinda got together. Putting aside that we’d have had to have different personalities and a religious outlook neither of us had. But IF we had…
We figure we’d easily have ten children by now. And maybe that would have precluded certain things. Maybe we wouldn’t have this place in Italy. Or who knows, maybe we would be even better off for having more than a decade of thinking ahead. But the extra dive children would undoubtedly be awesome and a real blessing. Don’t let the boomer lie fool you into believing anything else.
I believe it. They are awesome, and I hope for more, no matter my circumstances.
More people should probably meditate with the help of what St Francis de Sales wrote on Death. Maybe everyone not consecrated to the religious life would then have more children, and not just to be surrounded by many loved ones in the final hour. Three, five, ten, twenty kids all beat 0-2 kids and vacations to Europe. Or anywhere in the world.
The best we can do is to educate our children. I drop unsubtle hints weekly to my 2 daughters. Family first, then career/work. I they need help raising children and working I’ve already said that I will gladly indoctrinate, sorry look after my grandchildren.
