Roleplaying the Apocalypse

I’m thinking of writing a second module for my RPG Surviving the Current Zombie Apocalypse.

(Available as a full colour PDF you can print here,

Or as a full colour hardcopy book you can get from Amazon here).

The first module is also available at the E-store and Amazon, but I would like to make sure it is, firstly wanted, and secondly relevant, so I am conducting a small poll as below, the first answer assumes you don’t care about the RPG game and/or about any modules for it. If that is the case I still would appreciating you taking the half-second it takes to indicate your lack of interest by clicking on that option.

The other options assume you either have or will have the game and are interested in the module too but prefer one of the identified scenarios.

The first ten people to leave an actual comment that want me to do so can also give their name and I will include them as either potential pre-made players characters or as relevant NPCs in the game. If you add some detail about yourself I’ll try to include it. By giving your name and leaving a comment you give explicit permission (but not a requirement I am obliged to fulfil) for me to use it in the module.

The module will get done only if there is sufficient interest, so please let me know.

Which Type of Scenario for STCZA would you prefer?

First an admission. I’ve never played an RPG, although I am interested and will be buying your original game sometime in April.

So now that you know I don’t know what I’m talking about regarding RPGs; these were some tough options. I selected “survival outside of the city but without a “fortress” home/area” but am equally interested in “escape from a major US City during the Zombie Apocalypse”. I have friends in the Phoenix metro area, so in their case getting out of town and finding/having water would be a priority.

Another, not listed option, that would be personally fascinating would be a family living on a boat off the coast. I’ve wanted to buy a boat and sail the oceans for years, but with all the fun happening in the world right now it makes me ponder on what I would do if things went from bad to worse in that scenario.

When covid hit, some cruisers (boat owners) I follow online, had divergent experiences. Some were trapped in Australia without permission to leave, and dealing with Australia’s heavy-handed reaction, while others were in Panama and were able to quietly disappear into sparsely inhabited islands, and live pretty normal lives.

I’m not sure if I should be more careful about posting details about myself on this blog, so please feel free to redact any personally identifiable information if it’s prudent. Also, I permit you to use anything I wrote in any RPG you create.

I think a boat is a viable option as long as you keep to certain less policed areas, though, of course, that also opens you up to Piracy. And it depends on your family composition. A small family of decent sailors, no issue, or a larger family on a larger boat with most being adults, again, could be fine. A family like mine, large and most of the people being little kids, not so good at all.

I love this idea and would love to be a character in it but like the previous poster I’m not sure about leaving my personal details here on a public blog ?

Man has to go into city for some bureaucratic nonsense. Has no other option than to go during a certain time when SHTF.

Has a few loose contacts in the city, limited communication. Plus a few good friends in the countryside, wants to reconnect with family.

Limited money, one special ability, one small weapon.

I know I have not yet played, but I have not forgotten. I’ll buy the module for sure.
Since I don’t really care much about anonymity, you can do me, Cooper Chauvin, Catholic, Québécois, farmer, not very proficient at any specific type of fighting or weapon (knives if anything), but ready to take arms for the right cause. Tall, slim, quick learner, high IQ (not VHIQ) and more into strategy than tactics. Can grow a lot of food, and knows how to cook and store it. Delta with his heart in the right place. Tendency to put off things that are not immediately necessary and drinks a bit too much. Not sure if that is too much or not enough information, feel free to ask for more.
